After 3 weeks of calling most of the insurance companies listed in the Consumer Reports article of Nov. 2019 – Erie emerged as the best option in Ohio (unless you can afford Amica Insurance or are a military veteran and thus qualify for USAA Insurance). Ask your current insurance agent if your policy covers repair of “service lines” (water, sewer, gas, etc.) under your lawn. Make sure you clear specify that you’re asking about repair under the lawn outside the house (not just cleanup inside the house). In 2020 only a few companies covered those service lines under the lawn. The Consumer Reports article also says that Erie Insurance has a great reputation for paying claims.
